I remember buying my first investment property in 2011. I spent 6 months learning everything I could about the suburb I was going to buy-in. I even created an 80-page document on the suburb and showed it to one of my mentors at the time.
I remember I asked him (after we spent an hour going through the document) if he thought it was a good investment property – he said he didn’t know. At the time I was pissed off with his answer. Looking back now the document I created was full of the wrong information because I was asking the wrong questions.
What I should have asked my mentor at the time was
1. Would you buy this property knowing what you know now?
2. What makes a great investment property?
3. What would you buy if you were 24 years of age and just starting out as an investor knowing what you know now?
In this video, we discuss the process of buying an investment property from start to finish so you don’t go in blind as I did.
